Baiqonyr SFF-2018: Festival Jury
The jury of the III Baiqonyr Short Film Festival, which will be held from 20 to 23 September 2018 in Almaty, has been determined. The festival participants will be evaluated by 10 well-known filmmakers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. The General sponsor of the screening is the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy, the main partners are Kinopark Theaters and Kinoplexx Cinemas.
The Baiqonyr SFF-2018 collegium includes:
Nurtas Adambay is an actor, director and producer, founder of the Nurtas Production film company. The producer has 8 full-length projects. This year, Nurtas Adambay will release two works “Elevator” and “Kudalar”as a director.
Bayan Alaguzova is a producer and actress, whose production center Shine Production produces successful film and television projects. Thanks to films and TV shows, Bayan Maksatkyzy presented new faces and interesting content to domestic cinema. In 2019, the producer will present the new film “Station of Fate”.
Aruzhan Dzhazilbekova - actress, laureate of the film award “Critics' Choice 2017” in the nomination “Best Supporting Role”. In the filmography, Dzhazilbekova has both Kazakh and Russian projects.
Oybek Abdushukurov - Chairman of the Council of Young Filmmakers of Uzbekistan, Director of the Center for the Development of Cinematography, Producer.
Denis Konoplev - Kazakhstan sound designer. The specialist worked on the sound of more than 15 films, among them: “Kelinka Sabina”, “Escape from the aul”, “Cloud on the Roof” and “Registrar”.
Baimurat Zhumanov - director and actor. His debut film Tough Cookie won the Grand Prix in II Baiqonyr Short Film Festival. The director shot a new short film named “Drawings on the Wallpaper”.
Katerina Suvorova - director of documentary films. Katerina's works take part in international festivals. So, the film “Tomorrow Sea”, dedicated to the Aral Sea region, was awarded prizes at the IFF in the Czech Republic, France and Russia.
Adai Abeldinov - director, scriptwriter, head of the “Animated Cinema” Creative and Production Association at “Kazakhfilm”. This year, the director will present to the public two animated films “Kultegin” and “Muzbalak”.
Yana Tyulkina is a production designer. In the filmography of the artist more than 10 projects. Among them, the most famous for the audience series “Astana is my love”, “Seven May Days” by Yermek Tursunov and “Virtual Love” by Amir Karakulov.
The jury was headed by the famous film expert and film critic of Kyrgyzstan Gulbara Tolomushova. She is a member of FIPRESCI and NETPAC, a member of the Union of Cinematographers of Kyrgyzstan, and the author of many articles and speeches about Kyrgyz cinema published in Kyrgyzstan and abroad. Over the years, Gulbara Tolomushova has collaborated with international film festivals such as the Busan International Film Festival, New York Eurasian Film Festival, Kinoshok and Eurasia.
Screenings of Baiqonyr Short Film Festival films will be held in Almaty at the Kinoplexx Sary Arka cinema at Altynsarin St. 24A
It is worth noting that the acceptance of applications for participation in the film screening is closed. In the near future, the festival management will announce the official programme and the contestants.
