Baiqonyr SFF: What happened to the winners and participants of the film festival?

On September 20, 2018, Baiqonyr Short Film Festival will open its doors. This is the third festival of short films that will once again bring together creative people who are trying their hand at cinema. Films have been screened since 2016 by the Broadway movie portal. The General sponsor of Baiqonyr SFF is the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy, the main partner is Kinopark Theaters and Kinoplexx Cinemas.

From year to year, many young filmmakers worry about one question: “What awaits them after the festival?”. We will answer: “the participants will gain even greater achievements and world film sets!". The path from the Kazakhstani audience to the international one is not easy, but it is real. And here's the proof.

The winner of the Grand Prix of the first Baiqonyr Short Film Festival, Sharipa Urazbaeva's film “Potato Eaters” was not limited to one film set. From the very beginning, the festival aims to support young filmmakers and contribute to the development of the Kazakh film industry. And summing up two years of work, it's safe to say Baiqonyr Short Film Festival is the only platform for creativity and realizing the potential of first-time filmmakers, because with short films begin their journey talented Directors.
