Baiqonyr ISFF: participants of the international contest have been determined

The selection committee of the Baiqonyr International Short Film Festival has identified the participants of the international contest. Acceptance of applications for contestants from the CIS countries ended on August 1.

80 applications were submitted to the international contest. The selection was carried out by film experts Yerzhan Zhumabekov, Bekzhan Baigenzheyev and director Olzhas Isayev.

So, the following films will compete at the film festival:

• “Hedgerow” - Mikhail Kulunakov (Altai Republic);
• “Franka” - Mitry Semenov-Aleinikov (Belarus);
• “Goodbye” - Karash Zhanyshov (Kyrgyzstan);
• The 6.45 Train - Huseyn Hasanov, Ibrahim Tagiyev (Azerbaijan);
• “Moth” - Alexey Frenkel (Russia);
• “51+” - Daniyar Abirov (Kyrgyzstan);
• “My name is Petya” - Darya Binevskaya (Russia);
• “DVR” - Sarah Knar (Kazakhstan);
• “Fall down” - Rudolf Hainurov (Tatarstan);
• “Snow” - Aren Malakyan (Armenia);
• “Last dance” - Abror Samugzhanov (Uzbekistan).

“Applications for the international competition mainly came from Russia. Pleased with the level of films from Russia and Kyrgyzstan. Therefore, two films from these countries were included in the contest,” said Yerzhan Zhumabekov.

The deadline for submitting applications for the national contest is August 15.

Baiqonyr ISFF will be held from September 4 to 8, 2019 in the Kinoplexx Sary Arka cinema with the support of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy.

The General partner of IV Baiqonyr International Short Film Festival is Kinoplexx Theaters, the Golden partner of the event is Visit Almaty, and the partner for postal services is Kazpost. The initiator is the Broadway movie portal.
