IV Baiqonyr International Short Film Festival will be held at the expense of public funding

The IV Baiqonyr International Short Film Festival will be held from September 4 to 8, 2019 at the Kinoplexx Sary Arka Cinema.

This year, the film festival launches crowdfunding, which means that every Kazakhstani can become the creator of the young short films of his country. Baiqonyr ISFF can be sponsored on the Start-time.kz platform. Participants in public funding are invited to choose one of three packages. Each of them has a pleasant bonus from the organizers - upon purchase

• a package of 5000 tenge - a ticket to the closing ceremony of the festival, a 1-month subscription from Megogo, a branded T-shirt and a shopper;
• a package of 10,000 tenge - a ticket to the festival closing ceremony, a 1-month subscription from Megogo, a branded T-shirt, shopper and sweatshirt;
• a package of 15,000 tenge - a ticket to the festival closing ceremony, a 3-month subscription from Megogo, a branded T-shirt, shopper, sweatshirt and tumblr mug.

Crowdfunding starts on Start-time.kz from May 20 and runs until July 20 (inclusive).

If we together support such projects, in the near future we will be able to not only see high-quality cinema in Kazakhstan, but also produce it,”said Aziza Utegenova, CEO of Start-time.kz.

The general partner of IV Baiqonyr International Short Film Festival is Kinoplexx Theaters, the golden partner of the event is Visit Almaty, the partner in mail services is Kazpost. The initiator is the Broadway movie portal.

The festival’s ambassadors are well-known Kazakh artists and producers: Dina Tasbulatova, Dinara Baktybaeva, Anuar Nurpeisov, Erden Telemisov, Ainur Ilyasova, Rustem Zhanyamanov, Aziza Utegenova, Andrey Manuilov, Nariman Abiyev.

This year, Baiqonyr ISFF will hold a competition not only among domestic short films, but will also reveal the best works among foreign participants. The international jury will be led by Christiane Buechner, director, selector of the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival. The international jury will also include Kazakhstan producer Daniyar Ibragimov, director of the PROlogue International Film Festival in Uzbekistan Oybek Abdushukurov, programme director of the Umut CIS Young Film Forum in Kyrgyzstan Gulbara Tolomushova, director of the Start International Film Festival in Azerbaijan Fehruz Shamiev, selector of the Moscow International Film Festival Andrei Schigolev, programme director of IFF Didor Safar Hakdodov, sound designer from Kazakhstan Nikita Fomin.
